18K (750‰) yellow gold oval brooch centred with a large cameo on amethyst depicting a bust of a Woman à l'antique, the surround set with a line of probably fine pearls. Watch or tassel clasp on back.
Circa 1855. Bears the hallmark of Master Goldsmith "A.A" on the brooch attachment.
Dimensions: approximately 57 x 45 mm - Gross weight: 54.7 g.
In an antique sabot-shaped case bearing a BOSSON Paris and Marseille label.
The brothers Louis and Philibert-Honoré AUDOUARD were renowned for their "sure hand" and their high quality work combining enamel and chasing. Working in Paris under Napoleon III, they collaborated on numerous occasions with the famous house of FROMENT-MEURICE.
