AUDOUARD 18K (750‰) yellow gold oval brooch centred with a large cameo on amethyst depicting a bust of a Woman à l'antique, the surround set with a line of probably fine pearls. Watch or tassel clasp on back. Circa 1855. Bears the hallmark of Master Goldsmith "A.A" on the brooch attachment. Dimensions: approximately 57 x 45 mm - Gross weight: 54.7 g. In an antique sabot-shaped case bearing a BOSSON Paris and Marseille label. The brothers Louis and Philibert-Honoré AUDOUARD were renowned for their "sure hand" and their high quality work combining enamel and chasing.
