Augsburg ivory casket from the circle of Melchior Baumgartner
Wooden body with an ivory base covering the entire surface and plaques made of engraved and gilded brass. Rectangular body on a moulded frame and sawn feet. Widely protruding, stepped rising lid. Reserves bordered on all sides by flame mouldings with inset plaques. In the centre different medallions with knights and noblemen, flanked by dragons and lavish volutes. Engraved coat of arms with crest on the front. Corresponding depiction of a battle scene on the inside and the remains of a paper label "Nr.92" below. H. 11 cm. 14.5 cm x 11 cm.
