Lot no. 31
Auguste RENOIR (1841-1919). L.A.S., [Marseille] 27 April 1893, to Paul Bérard 1 page in-8, envelope. Beautiful letter to his friend and patron. "My dear friend, I am not dead and I am still thinking of you. I have been working on two decorations for you. But I wanted to go away, tired of the studio stove". He will get back to work as soon as he returns, and "will try to give you some amazing Jean Goujons. Excuse my long silence, but I'm becoming more and more anxious and nervous; if I didn't have this idiotic habit of putting colours on canvases I'd be quite ill. For months I've been working on studies that aren't very interesting. I'm impatiently waiting for my return to see the results. He added that he was moving again in July "to Rue Tourlaque 7, the same studio, cheaper".
