A genuine reading copy of the libretto for this opera by Aureli, set to music by Bernardo Sabadini and illustrated with plates designed by Domenico Mauro (1669-1770). The work was commissioned by Ranuccio II Farnese, Duke of Parma and Piacenza, to celebrate the marriage of his son, Prince Odoardo II (1666-1693), to Dorothea Sophie of Neuburg (1670-1748), daughter of the Elector Palatine. The opening section lists actors and musicians, along with stage collaborators including Ferdinando Galli Bibiena (set design), Federico Crivelli (choreography), and Gasparo Torelli (costumes).
4to (215 x 155mm). 12 (of 14) folding engraved plates (no loss to image, though most plates are torn or detached, water stain to final leaves). Original decorated wrappers (worn).
