Extremely fine double tray, enamelled copper with partially gilt silver. Rectangular body with rounded corners divided into two compartments by a central partition and a separate, domed hinged lid. Narrow, partially wavy and multiple moulded mountings, the front with a correspondingly divided, voluted lever handle. The wall and both lids decorated with colourful cotton wool scenes depicting courtly couples playing music in front of a wooded landscape. A tree-lined landscape with a view of ruins on the underside of the base. The inside of the lid with fine portraits of Frederick the Great (1733-1786) wearing a tricorn hat and the Order of the Black Eagle on his chest and his wife Elisabeth Christine of Prussia (1715-1797) in a white frilled dress, both wearing ermine-trimmed cloaks.
