Cupid reclining on a purple-coloured cushion patterned with gold rocailles, his legs pointing upwards and balancing a large, flaming heart on his feet. Polychrome painting with gold staffage. Designed by Heinrich Schwabe, c. 1877 - 1880. model no. L 126 x. Heart removable. Centreboard mark. H. 17.5 cm. From a series of cupid figurines by the sculptor Heinrich Schwabe, born in Wiesbaden in 1847, who taught at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Nuremberg between 1875 and 1907.
