[AUTOGRAPHS] A collection of over 50 autographs by various notable figures. A significant collection of autographs by various notable figures, assembled by Henri de Rothschild (1872–1947) and presented in sleeves bearing the initials ‘H de R’. It includes names such as Elisée Reclus (2 letters to Mr E. Picon, 14 December 1868 and 10 July 1875), Mac-Mahon (a letter from the French Society for the Relief of Wounded Soldiers to Baroness James de Rothschild, 29 March 1890, and a letter, 16 January 1887), Eugène Lami (3 letters to Baroness James de Rothschild, Friday 15th, 8 January 1877 and 17 January 1886), Georges Watts (letter to Milady de Rothschild, 5 February 1886), Louis Pasteur (letter to Baroness James de Rothschild, 13 March 1886), Ferdinand de Lesseps (letter to Baron Alphonse de Rothschild, 16 January 1886). The princely families of Monaco, Paris and Europe are also represented. A large printed and handwritten document appointing Baron Salomon de Rothschild as Bavarian consul in Paris, signed by Napoleon III, and a letter from Henri Heine to the Baroness de Rothschild (Paris, 1 June) complete this collection.
