One of 80 copies on strong Japanese vellum paper, with a separate edition of the black and red chine engravings and a suite of engravings by Ch. Delâtre for another edition of Paramarta. Hinges rubbed, some foxing. Strange surprising adventures of the venerable gooroo Simple, and his five disciples, Noodle, Doodle, Wiseacre, Zany, and Foozle. London, Trübner & Co, 1861. In-12, green percaline decorated with title and gilt, partly uncut (publisher's binding). First edition of the coloured frontispiece and 50 wood-engraved vignettes in and out of text after Alfred Crowquill. Some foxing.
