Rare first edition of the French translation of Historia vitae et mortis published in London in 1623. The translator Jean Baudoin (Pradelles circa 1590 - Paris 1650), one of the first members of the Académie Française, is famous for his numerous translations from Latin, Italian and Spanish. As early as 1619, he began translating Bacon, firstly Les Essais, then La Sagesse in 1626. L'Histoire de la vie et de la mort was his last translation of F. Bacon. Jean Baudoin died of hunger and cold in 1650. A copy bound in the period with, at the end, 26 ff. bearing a handwritten table. Not in Krivatsy.
