BACTRIAN CHLORITE FIGURE OF PRINCESS Ca. 2300 - 1700 BC.
A dress-shaped element carved from dark green chlorite, forming part of a composite female idol known as the Bactrian Princess. The garment has a flaring lower section and wide, horizontal sleeves. A recessed circular socket at the top indicates where a separately carved head would have been inserted. The surface is covered with a geometric pattern of intersecting vertical and horizontal lines arranged in a grid, with increased density on the arms.
