BACTRIAN CHLORITE QUADRIPARTITE CONTAINER WITH LID Ca. 2500 - 2200 BC.
A rectangular container carved from dark grey-green chlorite with tapering sides and four deep rectangular compartments hollowed into the interior. The flat lid and outer walls are decorated with a continuous pattern of incised lozenges arranged in horizontal rows, each enclosing a smaller lozenge within. Small perforations are drilled through the corners of both the lid and base. The upper and lower edges are defined by shallow border lines.
