BACTRIAN SCHIST BASKET VESSEL Ca. 2200 - 1800 BC.
A cylindrical vessel carved from dark grey schist with a flat base and straight vertical walls. The exterior is decorated with a continuous crosshatched pattern forming diagonally arranged diamond-shaped fields. Four evenly spaced temple or palace façades interrupt the latticework, each delineated with linear borders and containing nested rectangular fields above a panel of incised chevrons. A raised band encircles both the top and bottom edges.
