Diamonds cut before the 1930s came mainly from South Africa, producing slightly yellowish diamonds, around the K colour. In fact, before the classification of colours introduced by the GIA in 1931, colours were not referred to by the letters D,E,F...Z, but by more poetic names: Jager, River, Wesselton, Crystal, Cape and Silver Cape.
