W. A. Baillie-Grohman (1851-1921) was an Austrian-English mountaineer who was one of the first to explore the Karwendel walls. He is also credited with the first winter ascent of the Grossglockner in 1875. He took part in the exploration of the Selkirks in the Canadian Rockies (1892-93). Alexis Muston (Torre Pellice 1810 - Bourdeaux 1888) was a Franco-Italian pastor and historian of Waldensian Protestantism. A doctor of theology, he was initially pastor of the Waldensian Evangelical Church in Rodoretto in the province of Turin. In 1835, he was forced to flee the country because of issues relating to his theological writings, and went to France, where he became pastor of the Reformed church in Bourdeaux, in the Drôme region, a post he held from 1836 until his death. - MICHELET (Jules): The mountain. The advent of the Second Empire deprived him of his chair at the Collège de France in 1852; his thought then became more lyrical and he published works devoted to nature and the human soul: "La mer", "L'oiseau", "La montagne", "L'amour".
