BARBEY D'AUREVILLY (Jules) Paris, Poulet-Malassis, 1861. Du dandysme et de G. Brummel. In-12 (15,1 x 8,8 cm), red half-maroquin with corners, spine ribbed, gilt head, cover preserved (slightly later binding). Second edition, the first to be published, with a new introduction. Autograph letter signed "Jules Barbey d'Aurevilly" on verso of front cover: "to Mr Moret fatuité de plaire et mérite de préférer, + Jules Barbey d'Aurevilly". The preserved cover bears the date 1862, a publisher's error. Binding slightly scuffed and rubbed, spidering to spines, nerves, edges, and cuts, corners dulled, cover soiled, angular lacks, wetness. Provenance: -Mr Moret (consignment). -Jean-Pierre Séguin, this provenance being indicated by a printed card inserted in the book. Bibliography: Carteret, Romantique, I, p. 104.
