First edition. Barbey's autograph signature in pink ink on verso of false title, to protect the book from counterfeiting. A fine copy, enriched with 2 autograph letters signed to Hector de Saint-Maur, the first in violet ink, dated 27 January 1874, 1 page in-8; the second in blue ink, dated Thursday, signed Frère Jules. Ex-libris Horace de Landau-Finaly, one of the most lavish bibliophiles of the early 20th century, and unidentified ex-libris FD, depicting a cat in a boot. Vicaire I, 304.
