An interesting geological study by a scholar as serious as he was visionary. The "grand tunnel" between Taconnaz and Entrèves is 13.1 km long and roughly follows the current route. A fine copy. Martin Baretti (Turin 1841 - Canavese 1905) was an Italian mountaineer and geologist. He was the author of numerous studies on the geology of Piedmont and the Alps.
