Circular vane bottom with no visible seams, featuring remarkable needlework of extreme finesse, with very tightly embroidered motifs in festoon stitch and linked by a network of large, finely picothed stitches. The decoration is well structured with large cartouches with draped domes, a series of small cartouches decorated with a variety of stitches and containing bouquets of peonies, bulbous flowers including disbudded tulips which were very fashionable in this period, supple branches of foliage and florets, bouquets supported by superb floral motifs, exotic flowers and large floral motifs on the borders. Dark ivory linen. Dim. 3.40 m x 66 cm (good condition, rare very small stains) Provenance: sale on 3 February 1988 at Drouot, study Gros et Delletrez.
