Depicting a male figure in intercession. Shaved head, wearing a skullcap. The hieroglyphs above are unfortunately illegible due to the fractured relief. The figure could represent a priest, and the alternation of lines in relief and in relief attests to a certain finesse in the execution of the decoration. The edge of the limestone block and the lateral bands on either side of the figure suggest that this was the wall of a funerary chapel, a votive stele or the architectural element of a temple.)
An Egyptian 30th Dynasty Limestone Fragmentary Relief. c. 380-343 BCE.
Depicting a male figure in intercession. The head is shaven, wearing a skullcap. Above, presence of hieroglyphs unfortunately illegible due to the fracture of the relief. The figure itself could represent a priest; the alternation of incised and relief lines attests to a certain refinement in the execution of the decoration. The edge of the limestone block as well as the lateral bands on either side of the figure suggest that it was part of a funerary chapel wall, a votive stele, or an architectural element from a temple.
