"BASTON (l'abbé). He was a distinguished, learned and prolific writer. Born in Rouen in 1741, appointed bishop of Sées in of Sées in 1813, a few years later, under the Restoration, he had to retire because of his liberal ideas; he died in 1825. Throughout his life, he was subject to the strangest hallucinations, visions, forecasts, etc., but what gives these phenomena a special interest is that they are reported by the very person who experienced them. Baston left four volumes of unpublished memoirs of his life, which are very interesting; M.
