Lot no. 248
BAUDELAIRE (Ch.). LES FLEURS DU MAL. Paris, Poulet-Malassis et de Broise, 1857. In-8 (190 x 125 mm), bradel half anthracite morocco with small corners, t. gilt (modern binding). First edition and fourth state (?) with the correction on p. 12 ("s'embardissent" corrected during printing to "s'embardissant"). However, the following errors are also noted: on p. 31 and p. 108, the running title Les Fleurs du Mal is printed as Les Feurs du Mal; on p. 201, the word capiteux is erroneously printed as captieux; p. 45 is numbered 44. The 6 pieces, which the court had ordered to be removed, are not present in this copy. This copy has all the characteristics of the "completed copies" whose precise description is given in Carteret. (Clouzot, 43) (Carteret I, 118-121) A copy with large margins, the false title carefully restored; the binding signed Véronique Sala-Vidal is finely executed.
