[BAUDELAIRE Charles (1821-1867). Le Tombeau de Charles Baudelaire. Paris, La Plume, 1896; small in-4, brown half-maroquin with corners, cold filets, spine ribbed, gilt head cover. First edition containing a number of unpublished works by Baudelaire and poems and prose by Stéphane Mallarmé, Pierre Louÿs, Henri de Régnier, Nadar, Jean Richepin, Émile Verhaeren, Gabriel Soulages, etc., etc. Frontispiece by Félicien Rops, 2 portraits of Baudelaire and 3 facsimiles. ☞ One of 30 copies on Japon (No. 29) with the frontispiece in double state: in black with the letter, in red before the letter. The list of subscribers on a leaf at the head of the book gives us the identity of the person who subscribed for this issue, the symbolist poet Paul Vérola. 📖 Talvart and Place, I, 296, 53, give details of the print run, which was very small: 200 vellum, 30 Japon, 5 Hollande, 15 Chine. The most expensive were the Japon, at 50 fr., a substantial sum at the time.
