A good copy of this rare work. élie de Beaumont (Mézidon-Canon 1788 - 1874) was a French geologist and one of the pioneers of modern geology. He graduated as a Major from the Ecole Supérieure des Mines and taught at the Ecole des Mines and the Collège de France. He was perpetual secretary of the Académie des Sciences. Elie de Beaumont's greatest contribution was probably the geological map of France, of which he was the main author. (Perret 0327).
