BEAUTIFUL CANOSAN RED ON WHITE TERRACOTTA OINOCHOE Ca. 300 - 200 BC. A slender terracotta oinochoe with an inverted pear-shaped body tapering to a small, flared foot, a tall neck, and a trefoil mouth with a broad, sharply pinched spout. A single high-arching strap handle rises from the shoulder to the rim. The surface is covered in a pale slip, over which decorative elements have been applied in red pigment. Vertical stripes adorn the neck, while the body is encircled by a band of laurel leaves framed by parallel lines.
