BEAUTIFUL CANOSAN TERRACOTTA VOLUTE-KRATER WITH LADY OF FASHION Ca. 400 - 300 BC. A large terracotta volute-krater with an ovoid body tapering to a high flared foot, a broad neck with an everted rim, and a pair of high-swung handles terminating in large vertical volutes, each with a central rosette in added white pigment. One side presents a central female bust in profile, the so-called "Lady of Fashion", wearing an elaborate headdress and jewellery, set against scrolling motifs; above, on the neck, a smaller bust of the same type is depicted. On the reverse, a second female bust is similarly shown within vegetal scrolls, while the neck is decorated with a horizontal palm frond.
