BEAUTIFUL HELLENISTIC SET OF GOLD NECKLACE AND EARRINGS Ca. 200 BC - AD 100. A set of gold jewellery consisting of a necklace and a pair of earrings. The necklace is crafted with a gold chain and features a central oval-shaped agate stone displaying muted brownish-grey and light-brownish-grey banding. Flanking the central agate are two smaller ruby-red stones positioned just above the base of the oval centrepiece. The pair of matching gold earrings each features a small loop, from which hangs a drop-shaped cell inlaid with a ruby-red stone and bordered by fine filigree. Below each drop-shaped cell is a cluster of two gold bell-shaped pendants. Size: 40-210mm x 20-35mm; Weight: 27g. Provenance: Private London collection; Ex. London art dealer, UK, 1990s.
