BECCARIA (Giambattista) - [MANUSCRIT]. Phisica experimentatis anno 1779. In-8, paperback, cover in strong paper covered with dominoté paper with green and gold decoration. Interesting manuscript of 374 pages (the first 212 are numbered). Beccaria (1716-1781) taught physics at the University of Turin, where he surrounded himself with a small group of students, including Lagrange, whom he introduced to the study of Galilean experimental physics. This course was undoubtedly copied by one of them. This small circle was at the origin of the "Privata Società Scientifica Torinese", the forerunner of the Turin Academy of Sciences. Beccaria was responsible for many advances in the dissemination of Newtonian physics and in the understanding of electricity. His collaboration with B. Franklin led to the invention of the lightning conductor, which he hurried to equip with the main monuments in Italy. His Phisica experimentatis is unpublished, but the Vatican Library has a manuscript with the same title (MS594).
