Lot no. 1006
Bedeutende Charles II Tazza
Silber.
(Vgl. Mitchell, Dressing Plate by the 'Unknown' London Silversmith 'WF', The Burlington Magazine, vol. 135, no. 1083, 1993, S. 386 ff.).
Provenienz
Ehemals Slg. Viscount Rothermere, verst. Christie's London 3. Dezember 1941, Lot 108; verst. Christie's Genf, 14. November 1978, Lot 191.
Literatur
Vgl. eine Tazza des Meisters William Fowle (1658-1684) im sog. Calverley-Toiletteservice, heute Victoria and Albert Museum, London (240B-1879).

Marks of Master with WF, 1683.
This maker's mark might be a variation of that of William Fowles, who settled in London in 1681 after training under Arthur Manwaring and specialised in toilette services (cf. Mitchell, Dressing Plate by the 'Unknown' London Silversmith 'WF', The Burlington Magazine, vol. 135, no. 1083, 1993, p. 386 ff.).
