BEAUTIFUL TWO-LEAF SCHOLAR'S SCREEN In lacquer and ivory, each leaf decorated on one side with a shibayama-type decoration, in inlays of tinted ivory, mother-of-pearl, hard stones and wood, featuring a brush-holder and incense burner surmounted by a phoenix, on saddles next to a vase and basket of flowers, against a background of nashiji lacquer; The black lacquered backs decorated in gold and silver hiramaki-e with quail among flowers and foliage in the light of a silver moon; the ivory frames with relief decoration of ducks and geese among aquatic plants in the lower part, the surrounds decorated with floral and geometric motifs.
