BEAUTIFUL PLATE WITH FLORAL DECORATION Ottoman Turkey, Iznik, circa 1570 - 1590 Siliceous ceramic with polychrome decoration under a transparent glaze, the base decorated with a bouquet sprouting from a central tuft, combining blue tulips, red roses and hyacinths, the rim with its curved outline decorated with a stylised motif of waves and rocks, The lavender-blue enamelled reverse, a rare feature in Iznik dishes, decorated with small bouquets of blue tulips in pairs, alternating with a rosette, is intact except for a restoration on the outer edge of the border.
