This "very artistically presented novel of chivalry" (Funck) is a key book, several chapters of which are true historical accounts, recounting in particular the abdication of Charles V, the capture of Saint-Quentin, the banquet of the Golden Fleece, the tournament in which Henry II died, etc.
Very fine copper-engraved illustration, unsigned, including an architectural title-frontispiece, two full-page figures, an oval emblem and 57 curious half-page figures at the head of the chapters.
