One of the most beautiful alphabets ever published, decorated by Alexandre Benois (1870-1960) with two cover illustrations, a title and 34 alphabet plates entirely chromolithographed with gold or silver highlights. "It is hardly possible to find a copy of this book in good condition. The book has always been in high demand among bibliophiles. Its circulation was extremely limited" (Vengerov, Staraia Russkaia Kniga, 66). Minor restorations on the corners and edges of the boards, inner hinges consolidated, a few small spots and scattered soiling.
