LOUIS XV PERIOD CABRIOLET ARMCHAIR Stamped by Martin Delaporte In beech and walnut, moulded and carved with ovals and leafy clasps, arched legs, stamped M.DELAPORTE under the rear crosspiece, upholstered in crimson velvet with floral decoration; the end of the right rear leg has been restored. H. 96 cm (37 ¾ in.) l. 69 cm (27 ¼ in.) Provenance: Sale in Paris, Hôtel Drouot, Tajan, 25 October 2000, lot 164. A Louis XV carved beechwood and walnut bergere en cabriolet, stamped by Martin Delaporte The descendant of a famous dynasty of joiners, Martin Delaporte's workshop was located in the rue des Filles-Dieu-Saint-Sauveur between 1730 and 1740. He used two stamps, M. DELAPORTE and MDLP. His stamp was later taken over by his nephew Martin Nicolas Delaporte (master in 1765).
