Lot no. 604
Bernard FRIZE (1949), "Ingo", acrylic and resin on plastic canvas dated 2020. Bears a Galerie Perrotin label on the back. H. 120.5 x 183.2 cm Provenance: Galerie Perrotin, New York then Swiss private collection Note: A major artist on the contemporary scene, Bernard Frize is renowned for his experimental painting practice, in which the rigour of the process often prevails over figurative intent. To create, he uses industrial tools - broad brushes, resins, fluid pigments. His methodical, vibrant work can be found in many prestigious public collections, including the Centre Pompidou, MoMA and the Tate Modern, and has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions. The work presented here is emblematic of his approach, and forms part of the emblematic series of paintings with coloured bands.
