Professor Dr. Herwarth Röttgen ordnet das uns vorliegende Werk eindeutig der Hand Bernardino Cesaris zu, dem Sohn Giuseppe Cesaris (gen. Cavalier d'Arpino). Es beruht auf der Komposition (Öl auf Holz, 76,8 x 58 cm), welche sein Vater Giuseppe wohl in den 1630er Jahren geschaffen hat und die sich heute in der Gemäldegalerie Alter Meister im Museum Schloss Wilhelmshöhe in Kassel befindet.Bernardino Cesari

Professor Herwarth Röttgen attributes this work to the hand of Bernardino Cesari, the son of Giuseppe Cesari (known as Cavalier d'Arpino). It is based on a composition by his father which is thought to have been painted in the 1630s (oil on panel, 76.8 x 58 cm) now housed in the Gemäldegalerie Alter Meister in Museum Schloss Wilhelmshöhe in Kassel.
