BIBLE (La Sainte), contenant l'Ancien et le Nouveau Testament, traduite en français sur la Vulgate par M. Le Maistre de Saci. Paris, Defer de Maisonneuve [t. I-IV] ; Bastien, Ponce [tome V] ; Gay, Ponce, Belin [tome VI-VIII, X-XII], Gay, Ponce, Gide [tome IX], 1789-1804. 12 volumes in-8, rooted fawn basane, gilt roulette, ornate spine, gilt edges (period binding). Famous edition of the Bible by Louis-Isaac Lemaistre de Sacy, in a version that became the official reference at the end of the 18th century. The last volume contains the table, a Chronologie sainte, a Dictionnaire de la géographie sacrée and the list of subscribers. Monumental in its illustration, it is adorned with 300 out-of-text figures engraved after Marillier and Monsiau by various artists and includes a fold-out map of the Holy Land engraved by Tardieu after Chanlaire.
