In-4, brown morocco stamped on wood, large cold roulette bordered with cold fillets and fleurons, three-ribbed spine decorated in the same way, traces of clasps; modern box (Period binding). Precious and rare incunabula printed in Venice by Johann Herbort of Seligenstadt.
Originally from Hesse, Herbort moved to Venice in 1480 at the invitation of Johannes de Colonia and Nicolas Jenson. He initially joined forces with them before printing under his own name from December 1481. He died in October 1484.
A copy in a contemporary binding with numerous handwritten annotations by a contemporary hand. It has not been rubricated.
Incomplete of 2 pages (a1 and a8) and 32 pages of explanations of Hebrew names at the end of the volume (signed aa-dd8). Minor damage, accidents and restorations to binding, clasps missing, worm work and discreet repairs to first and last leaves, scattered dampstains and stains, first leaf stained.
