Copy of this elegant Bodoni edition, once belonging to the renowned Piedmontese bibliophile and republican Carlo Francesco Giacinto Caisotti di Chiusano, who assembled a library of 6,776 volumes, one of the most distinguished private collections in Piedmont during his time.
2 volumes, 4to (240 x 180mm). Typographic vignette to title-page (slightly browned). Bound in contemporary calf, 'Caisotti' stamped in gilt to upper board, gilt floral ornaments to spine, title gilt directly, red edges (slight wear). Provenance: large engraved bookplate of 'Il Cittadino Carlo Giac.to Caisotti' with the motto 'Les Hommes naissent libres et égaux en droits' ; ex libris of Francesco Giacinto Caisotti (1754-1831)
