HORSE JEWEL - TIBET (1900-1920)
Woolen horse jewel, hand-woven and hand-knotted in Tibet, placed on the horse's forehead at the head of the caravan.
Good condition. Size: 22 x 26 cm
Provenance: Sandro Volta Collection (1900-1986) and descendants.
Sandro Volta was a writer, journalist and art collector. He wrote the preface to the "Manifesto of Dadaism" by his friend Tristan Tzara. Part of his collection was sold by Maître Rheims at Hôtel Drouot on 16 and 17 May 1957. He was a correspondent for the newspaper LA STAMPA from 1925 to 1932, in China and Tibet.
