[BINDING]. Canon Missae. Rome: Camera Apostolica, 1658. Sumptuous Roman binding from the Andreoli workshop, commissioned by a cardinal. Folio (400 x 275mm). Title-page within architectural border with the arms of Pope Alexander VII, text printed in red and black, woodcut initials (slight browning and a few repaired tears). Bound in Roman red morocco by the workshop of the Andreoli brothers, richly decorated in gilt to boards and spine; at the centre, cardinal's arms within central cartouche, shield bearing the letters 'ACF' on a red leather inset to upper cover, and initials 'S M.L.' to lower cover, both likely added at a later date; red silk place-markers, marbled edges (minor defects, small losses to corners and endcaps).
