First edition comprising the 36 monthly issues of this famous periodical which gave pride of place to Japonism at the end of the 19th century.
It is illustrated with in-text drawings and out-of-text plates in black and colour, some of which fold out, offering new "Documents d'Art et d'Industrie", decorative models brought back by Bing from his travels in Japan. Théodore Duret, Edmond de Goncourt, Hayashi, Louis Gonse, Philippe Burty, Victor Champier, Roger Marx, Ary Renan and others all made contributions.
