BLAQUIÈRE (Edward). The Greek Revolution; its origin and progress: together with some remarks on the religion, national character, etc., in Greece. London, G. & W.B. Whitaker, 1824. In-8, black percaline (contemporary binding). First edition, illustrated with a large folded map with raised borders. The work was translated into French the following year.
A passionate Philhellenist, Edward Blaquière (1779-1832) was one of the founders of the London Philhellenic Committee with John Bowring.
Hinges split, spine reinforced with kraft, corners worn, brown stain and repaired tear on map, marked crease on p. vii, scattered foxing.
