The car is in unrestored original condition. The engine is running on all cylinders. Due to the long service life, however, the brakes are not functional. The car can though be pushed and pulled. The car has a registered owner from 1974 to 1985. The subsequent owner has never admitted the car to road traffic. BMW 2002 series The original series 114, also called the 02-series, included medium-sized cars, which were manufactured by BMW from April 1966 to July 1977. The 02-series rounded off the BMW program. There were only four-cylinder models (engine type M10) with the designations 1502, 1600-2, 1602, 1600 TI, 1802 and 2002, 2002 ti, 2002 tii, and 2002 turbo. The 2002 turbo, fitted with 170 HP, was the first German car in series production with a turbocharger (before the Porsche 911 Turbo). The car was launched in the fall of 1973 during the first oil crisis and was immediately criticized because of the high fuel consumption; as well as the optional mirrored writing ‘Turbo 2002’ on the front spoiler, which has been regarded as war paint in the press. Only 1672 cars were produced from September 1973 until November 1974 in the colors silver (Polaris-Metallic) and white (Chamonix).
