Provenance: Collection of a former diplomat Bodys Isek Kingelez was a Congolese sculptor known for his colourful utopian models of imaginary towns and buildings. Using materials such as cardboard, paper and recycled packaging, he created detailed 'extreme models' inspired by the chaotic energy of Kinshasa. His work, which imagines a peaceful and harmonious African future, has been exhibited internationally, including a major retrospective at MoMA and the Centre Pompidou.
