Chouët, 1679. 2 volumes in one large quarto, brown marbled calf, spine ribbed and decorated, edges mottled (Binding of the period). First edition of this monument by the Genevan physician Th. Bonet, the first book on pathological anatomy which inspired Morgagni's De sedibus et causis morborum.
Bonet's main achievement was to compile 2,000 years of medical writings, bringing to light previously forgotten authors. The work contains almost 3,000 case studies, classified anatomically and subdivided by type of symptom. Two states of the title page of volume I are known, one with the bookseller's mark, the other with a vignette showing a dissection, the case of this copy.
Scattered foxing, worn binding.
