In-4 (315 x 238 mm) with 1 f. title, 2 f. o.b., 16 plates, 1 f. o.b., leaves, publisher's illustrated portfolio, binding ribbons (publisher's folder). Very fine work on the theme of the Great War illustrated with 20 images or culs-de-lamps by Robert Bonfils, including 16 full-page, all hand-coloured by Charpentier under the artist's direction. Edition of 320 copies, this being one of 300 on Arches laid paper, the second paper after 20 copies on Japon. It includes a preface by Lucien Descaves. A typical representative of the Art Deco style, Robert Bonfils (1886-1972) was renowned for the elegance of his illustrations and his subtle interpretation of texts. Spotting on the first cover and title, traces of wear to the boards, otherwise a good copy.
