It is dedicated to the Dean and Regent Doctors of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Avignon. The handsome, unsigned allegorical frontispiece features surgeon putti and a Latin motto that reads: Il disseèque les morts pour soigner les vivants [He dissects the dead to heal the living]. The anatomical plates, drawn and engraved after nature, show the parts of the brain, the arteries of the brain, the eyes, the mouth, the palate, the gullet, the external and internal ears, etc. Covers and corners worn.
