Le Jardinier françois, qui enseigne à cultiver les arbres et herbes potagères, avec la manière de conserver les fruicts, et faire toutes sortes de confitures, conserves et massepans. Paris, Antoine Cellier, 1666. In-12, lemon morocco, gilt lace, spine decorated with petit fers, inner lace, gilt edges (Petit succ. de Simier). Partly first edition, decorated with a frontispiece and three out-of-text figures by François Chauveau.
This eighth edition "augmented by the author by a third in the first part" is the first in which the author's name is printed in full in the privilege.
The three parts of this famous gardening manual published in 1651 are devoted to the cultivation of fruit trees, the vegetable garden and the preservation of fruit. The last part includes recipes for preserves, jams, syrups, marzipan, etc.
