BOS (Jacob). [Ercole Farnese]. S.l. [Rome, Lafréri], 1562. Burin (45 x 30 cm), filleted margins. A very fine representation of Hercules Farnese, engraved in 1562 by the Flemish artist Jacob Bos for Antoine Lafréri's Speculum romanæ magnificentiæ. It is one of the earliest representations of this famous Hellenistic statue, then in the collection of Cardinal Alexander Farnese and now in the Archaeological Museum of Naples. Minor damage and restoration to the edges of the subject.
