Chaumeton's Flore Médicale is one of the most important French works of the 19th century on the study of medicinal plants. In addition to its elegant and fine iconography, it describes the history, uses and virtues of the plants. The plants are listed in alphabetical order, and the author gives their various names in Greek, Latin and the main languages used. Many fruit trees are represented. The delightful illustrations are by Pierre Turpin and Anne Panckoucke, a pupil of Van Spaendonck and Redouté. Condition: Traces of damp, a few stains, element table with tear.
